Kent Trails offer transport and access to nature through a well maintained trail system. The Musketawa Trail is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of living and working in Grandville, Michigan, and take a day trip or weekend trip out into the great outdoors.

The Muskegon Lakeshore Trail leads to the Great Lakes and Lake Michigan, past Grandville, Grand Haven and Grand Rapids, and the Grand River Valley. The Medbery Bike Trail runs through an industrial park to the west of the city, and the Northwest Portage Bikeway, as its name suggests, crosses the western edge of Grandville, with a variety of hiking and horseback riding opportunities for those who take it on the wild side. With 6,276 units, it is one of the largest single-family homes in the state of Michigan.

At the 2010 census, 4,160 families lived in the city, with a population of 2,845 people, which is about 1.5 percent of the total population. The racial makeup of this city is a mix of whites, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans and African Americans.

Entrepreneur Steve Maas has been mayor of the city since 2013, after replacing longtime mayor Jim Buck. He joined the council in 2019 and retired as principal of the Christian schools in Grandville. The two longest-serving councillors in the city's history, two of whom have served in their respective positions for more than 20 years.

Grandville is one of Grand Rapids' oldest suburbs and was incorporated as a city in 1933. It is an important place due to many years of logging. It was important for people to make their way through the logs that dammed up the river and turned into Grand Haven from north to west, so Grandville was one of the important places.

The Lakeshore Connector Path runs along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan and stretches from Grand Rapids to Vermontville. The North Bank Trail will one day run 18 miles from Spring Lake to Marne on the western outskirts of Grand Rapids. Eventually, the Paul Henry Thornapple Trail may stretch as far as Jackson, but when completed, it will be the first of its kind in Michigan State to extend beyond Grand Falls, stretching from the Michigan State University campus in Grand Valley State Park to Burlingtonville, Michigan, into Grand River County.

The Linear Trail in the park winds through the city of Grand Haven and runs parallel to several of the city's main thoroughfares.

Grandville also has many architecturally complex libraries, which contain a large number of books and serve as great learning spaces. The Van Buren Trail Trail, which opened in November 2015, provides access to the Kal Haven Trail and Grand Haven River Trail. Travellers can also take the "Kal Haven" route to the east of the city and to the west for short distances.

The Shaver Road Bikeway starts at the intersection of Romence Road and the Grand Haven River Trail in Grandville, Michigan. From there, continue east along the Romences Road cycle path, then along the Van Buren Trail, the Kal Haven Trail and finally along the Great Lakes Trail.
